Weekend Getaway: Gdansk, Poland

Weekend Getaway: Gdansk, Poland

It really amazes me how you can be in one place and then after an hour flight you’re in a completely different culture. In only an hour! So I went to Gdansk, Poland for the weekend. It was my first real solo trip, where I wasn’t meeting anyone once I got there.

This was my view from the room I was staying in, Mama’s & Papa’s Hostel:

Here are some photos from the city center:

After I ventured around the city all day, I stopped off at the local Hard Rock Cafe, which granted is not a good way to try the local cuisine. But my family had a tendency to stop off at most of the Hard Rock’s we ran accross, so I decided to keep up with it.

The next day I visited the Malbrock Castle just a 20min train ride out of Gdansk. This is the biggest castle made out of bricks, and it was almost completely destroyed during World War 2. It was rebuilt to all of it’s pre-WW2 glory.
